Advice on staying anonymous

Here is some useful guidance, mainly for new webcam models or those thing about becoming a webcam model, to help you hide your real identity and minimise the chances of getting recognised.

1. Use a private computer

Whilst it is possible to remain anonymous using a shared computer, doing so heightens your risk of somebody you share your computer discovering you are a webcam model, with an increased opportunity and probability of someone gaining access to your account, activity or history.

If you have no option but to use a shared computer that other people have access to, make sure that computer has user accounts active so that you need to log in using your own personal username and private password. Use private browser windows, delete your history, do not save your passwords or 'Remember Me' features. Don't save anything work-related to the device such as photos or videos, documents or if possible cam software, if you must then make sure you delete the files and empty your recycling bin.

Imagine if you ever forget to log out or are distracted and somebody is able to use it or even some other user installs software that could allow them to gain unauthorised access to your user account, such as key-logging software.

To stay as safe as possible, you should only use your own personal private computer to webcam model, and for additional security you should even consider investing in a work-only computer, which is only ever used to webcam model and access webcam related sites/accounts, no personal use!

Before you start registering as a webcam model it is advised you create a dedicated work email address, one that not include any parts of your real name, nickname or other identify data.

Here are some reputable Free email service providers:

• Gmail
• Outlook
• Yahoo! Mail
• iCloud Mail
• ProtonMail

Better still, create 2 new work emails as above, one which you use to register as a model and use to access websites, the other for communicating with customers if you are an independent webcam model or want to share with customers by which they can contact you.

Never use your work emails for any personal stuff.

When registering a user account on your computer, your work-only email account(s), as a webcam model on cam sites, social media accounts, App or any associated work related services, ALWAYS make sure you use a unique username that is not associated with any personal usernames, you can use the same work-related username across work-related sites/apps, that could be something like your model name, but it's even better and more secure to use something completely unique and ALWAYS use unique passwords on each and every single site and app.

Because some sites or services require a phone number for registration, verification or notifications, you should have a work only number.

• Buy SIM
• Request Free SIM
• Get a Virtual Phone Number

If you buy a SIM then pay and top-up using cash. Requesting a SIM requires your name & address, you can use a fake name or limited name info such as just initials or first name, nickname or similar. A virtual phone number is a phone number that you can buy that forwards to your real phone number. Even better would be to have a work only phone/device with it's own number that you only ever use for work and can keep secure just like your personal phone.

Choose a model name that you feel suits you, your personality or any niches you cater for, you can call yourself anything you want, but it should not include any part of your real name, any nickname you have been known by, anything else that may risk identifying you personally.

Remember, your model name is usually the first thing a customer sees, so a carefully chosen model name can help make you a success by attracting customers, it is also what most customers will remember for a very long time, if not always. Choose carefully.

When using accessing any sites of services make sure that your location services are disable or that you don't grant them location service permissions.

This is particularly important when using social media as the service will record your location and may use this information, which can be very accurate and reveal your exactly location, within metres! Also disable geotagging features and metadata in photos as somebody may be able to view this data and establish your location and personal data.

Do not use any of your personal photographs for your webcam profiles or services.

Search engines visit most pages tat exist on the internet and can take a copy of all your content.

If somebody downloads your photo(s) they can use a service like TinEye to search for places where your pics exist.

So, if you had a photo on Facebook and your cam site they could find your personal social media.

Try limit identifying pics in your camming profiles/galleries, such as face, tattoos, distinguishing features.

If you really want to limit access to viewers from the UK then some campsite have a country ban feature.

Using the viewers IP a country block will ban a range of IP addresses which relate to a country to prevent them from accessing your cam.

Please note that these blocks are not always effective and there are many ways to circumvent such restrictions.

Also be aware that the majority of a models clientele is generally from their own country as they prefer to interact with models who live in the same country, some even only ever use models who they believe are even more local such as from the same city. So using such a restriction to prevent UK customers form accessing your service may significantly impact your demand/income.

Your cam room, as in the room I which you perform and your location may give away location identifying information.

Your room should be free from personal photos, photos of family, any personal documents or letter or anything else that states your name, address, location, plus anything that may show any personal interest or hobbies.

Also be aware if your cam shows any windows, mirrors, reflections, you may inadvertently stream something from anywhere other than physically inside your room. If you offer shows from other locations such as garden, public places, make sure you do not reveal any landmarks or identifying features.

Whilst cam sites take a fee or share of your revenue, they are almost most certainly the most discreet way for you to get paid.

Taking payment by bank transfer, PayPal or similar e-payment service will provider the payer your real name and maybe even address.

If you use gift cards or wishlists as a payment option, remember gifts can be cancelled before you receive them and if you use a service such as Amazon and have items on your wishlist from third party sellers, the person who purchased the gift can request a tracking number and establish your delivery address.
